Scammers impersonate your moderators. ScoutBot catches them first.
Every member who joins, renames themselves or changes their avatar is checked against your admin and moderator roles — by name and by image. Matches get flagged, kicked or banned before they can DM your community.

An impersonator doesn't need to break anything
They only need one member to trust the wrong DM. A copied name and a copied avatar is the whole attack — and it happens in private, where your moderators cannot see it.
A scammer copies your moderator's name and picture
They DM your members privately, where you can't see it
Your members lose money, and you lose their trust
By the time somebody reports it, the damage is done. The defence that works is catching the impersonator at the moment they set the name.
Two ways to copy a moderator. ScoutBot checks for both.
You choose which roles are worth protecting. ScoutBot watches every join, nickname change and avatar update against them.
The name
Usernames and nicknames are compared against your moderators and any names you protect by hand. Near-misses count — a swapped letter, an added space, a lookalike character. You set how close is too close.
The picture
Avatars are compared as images, not as file names, so a re-uploaded, resized or lightly edited copy still matches. This is the half most bots skip, and the half that catches the impersonator who picked a different name.
Your response
On a match, ScoutBot posts to the channel you choose and can ping a role. Or it kicks. Or it bans. Your moderators and any members you whitelist are never actioned.
Built around one job
Impersonation detection is what ScoutBot is for. Everything else is there so you do not need a second bot.
Impersonation detection
Username, nickname and avatar analysis against the roles you protect, with tunable sensitivity and your choice of alert, kick or ban. Safe roles and whitelists keep your own team clear.
Suspicious link detection
Scam links are the other half of the same attack. Filter by domain, alert your moderators, and act automatically — using the same safe roles as above.
Also included
- Audit — deleted messages, bans, channel edits and other server events, logged where you choose
- Echo — mirror a user's messages into a channel so they are findable in a busy server
- Scheduler — recurring announcements with styling and role mentions
- Commands — custom automated responses for FAQs and server info
- Membership — track time-limited members and get told before access lapses

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as impersonation?
A member whose username, nickname or avatar closely matches one of the roles you have chosen to protect, or a name you have listed by hand. Close counts — a swapped character or an added space still matches. You control how close is close enough.
Will it flag my actual moderators?
No. You mark which roles are safe, and members holding them are never actioned. You can also whitelist individual members — useful for alt accounts and long-standing regulars whose names are genuinely similar.
Does ScoutBot read my members' DMs?
It cannot. Discord gives bots no access to direct messages between members, and ScoutBot does not ask for one. It works by catching the impersonator in your server, at the moment they set the name or avatar — before the DM is sent.
Is it hard to set up?
Not at all! Once you add the ScoutBot to your server, you can configure all of our plugins with ease, straight from our website
